Erich Reule is married to Laurie and has been for 29 years. He is a proud father of a whole bunch of wonderful girls and Opa to two grand daughters. He currently holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts in Christian Apologetics with thesis from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Erich’s thesis is on the area of the foundations of moral obligations.
Aside from his family, Erich has a passion for good theology, apologetics, critical thinking, and the truth. Erich worked in the Law Enforcement field as a police officer in a major city for 24 years. He also had three years of related work before becoming a police officer. During his police career he spent a great deal of focus on interviewing, investigations, and the analysis of statements. It is some of these skills we will use to Interrogate the Truth. He wrapped up his career in a teaching and training role for just over six years. He spent much of his career teaching and equipping others for the tasks at hand.
Given his main career, it seems somewhat of an odd fit to move towards Christian Apologetics, but it really is not. The investigative and interviewing tools he has acquired compliment apologetics and this combined with his love of teaching and discipleship of others lead to his passion for teaching, engaging in discussion, writing, and lecturing. In his time there, he focused on strong biblical teaching and equipping of the church while also blending apologetics into several areas of ministry.
On a personal note, with raising a large family and given our rapidly changing world Laurie and I, Erich, have seen the importance of equipping ourselves and our children to face the challenges they and we face. The answers of mystery and “just have faith” simply are not enough nor need they be. Honestly, these sorts of answers do a disservice to a faith that can be well-thought out and reasonable. We are commanded in 1 Peter 3:15 to always be ready to give an answer for the hope that we have. When first discovering apologetics I was amazed there were reasons for my faith and it was not just emotive or a crutch. If you read Laurie’s bio you will see we have been thrown a number of trials in life and God has brought us through it. These are but a few challenges. Ministry life also brought with it the benefit of being in the front seat to see God at work, but it also brought many challenges too. Through our lives with the ups and downs, and the questions and challenges along the way, I have always found that our faith can stand it. An unquestioned faith is an immature faith. God can handle it, and we can confront the lies in the world and supposed truth and interrogate these together.
